Granola + Seeds = a Happy Blogger

As I suspected, breakfast didn’t keep me full for long. My stomach started growling about 11am, so I dug into this granola seed mix:

This was part of a package I ordered from the Graze company. They specialise in making filling, healthy snacks for office workers. My pack this week also included fresh cherries (which I ate yesterday) and a dried apple, cranberry and apricot mix, which you’ll probably see on here soon. The verdict on the granola seed mix? It was so good! Just the right balance of oats and seeds, and it kept me going right up until lunch. And for only 123 calories, too. I kind of wish I’d saved it to use in oatmeal because I have a feeling it would have been even more delicious with nice hot oats.

Lunch was the same as yesterday, just in roll instead of sandwich form. Fillings: hummus, spinach and sprouts. I feel so lame posting the same meals day-in, day-out, but it’s hard thinking of interesting things to bring into work. Sandwiches are just so transportable!

Afternoon snacks included an apple, some cherry tomatoes and a pear. Oh, and a *tiny* bit of this:

My co-worker bought this back from vacation on Monday. I haven’t really fancied any up until now, but this afternoon I was really in the mood for chocolate. But whereas a few months ago I would have gone way overboard, today I was perfectly satisfied with one square. And instead of feeling guilty for eating ‘bad’ food, I was proud of myself for knowing when to stop. I enjoyed every last (little) bite!

Hopefully my colourful dinner makes up for my boring lunch! . For some reason colourful food always seems a lot more appetising to me – maybe that explains why I love salad and fruit so much?! Dinner tonight had a whopping six different components: trout (grilled in the George Forman), salsa, advocado, asparagus, broccoli and sweet potato fries.

This was one of the first times I’ve ever had trout, and I’m really glad I tried it. It’s got quite a subtle taste, which went well with the salsa. Sweet potato fries are another blog discovery. They’re just as good as ‘real’ fries in my opinion.

Right, I’m off for a run, armed with my Operation Beautiful post-it notes. Check back later to see where I end up sticking them!

Do you tend to eat different foods every day, or are you a creature of habit?

I would think trout was a pretty fishy fish?? I tend to like really mild fish – and if its deep fat fried, all the better!

I am a person who CAN eat the same things all the time and never get bored, but I have so many recipes to try, there is not enough time to make them all!

Although I do have to say I do have an egg sammie almost every morning – they keep me full forever!

that granola looks really good! Perfect for snackers.
I always eat a different lunch everyday, but my breakfast and dinner is pretty much the same as I’m otherwise too lazy to potter around with some new fancy dish.

I eat similar type things – just put them together differently from time to time to “mix it up”.

I tend to have the same things from breakfast through afternoon snack, because I just love what I eat and don’t have time to make a new dish. However, I’m trying to change it up these days just for experiment’s sake. Dinner is always different though and I eat it with my family.

I love trout too! I only had it once, but I was like this is some awesome fish. It gets a bad rap in movies, so I was shocked at how good it was–very similar to salmon.
